You’ll be staying in a fully furnished, clean, bright and airy recently renovated 3 bedroom, 1 bath apartment which opens onto a huge back terrace, flooded with sunlight. The available room is 8x10 with exposed brick, bed (w/linens), desk, mirror and closet.
The apartment has a dishwasher and washer/dryer in the unit, and independent ac/heat units in each room. The bath has a very relaxing rain shower head above and a tub deep enough for calming baths.
The toilet is also equipped with a Toto washlet/bidet with a remote and customizable settings.
The back deck is an oasis of calm in the city, surrounded by red brick, ivy and sky, perfect for morning coffee, meditation or a late night glass of wine under the stars.
January 1 is the target start date but if you have different needs and would like to start soon after this date, please let me know! End date is open but ideally 3 month minimum of January February and March, with 30 day notice so we can decide if you'd like to stay on.
I'm a freelance writer, filmmaker and sometime wine industry professional. I've been here in Red Hook for about a decade and it's a unique and inspiring waterfront neighborhood, with plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars, live music, small shops, artists, artisans, makers and musicians living and thriving here.
The main living space has a comfy leather couch and shares time with the kitchen, which is fully stocked with great cookware (no microwave however) and enjoys hosting the occasional small dinner get together. That said, the place is typically a calm retreat from the city and humbly request the party never comes home.
I'm friendly but at the same time pretty much keep to myself with projects. The apartment is smoke and pet free, though if you smoke the back deck is ideal, just please never inside.
Looking for a kind hearted, focused human who creates, studies or works on a schedule that takes you out and about and have the spirit to explore and appreciate this unique corner of New York City.
The apartment is located in Red Hook, Brooklyn, with a Citibike station just below the windows and a B61 bus stop directly across the street which gets you to Downtown Brooklyn and Borough Hall MTA in about 15 minutes or the F/G at Smith & 9th in about the same time. By far my favorite option for public transit is the NYC Ferry which is at the end of the block and gets you to Wall Street in less than 15 minutes and anywhere else in the city from there.
Of note, while the building is calm with only 2 units including mine, the apartment is directly over a bar/restaurant so you should anticipate noise on the street outside and music most weekend evenings.
Verizon Fios and gas are included, however electric costs vary wildly based on ac/heat usage so if necessary this will be billed separately unless we come to a simpler arrangement.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions at all, I'd be happy to get back to you asap!
