I am looking for someone to sublet the top floor of my beautiful rent-stabilized BedStuy apartment beginning 01 July — with some flexibility around move-in and move-out dates if needed.
A little about me: I am a musician and a Lecturer at Columbia University. Until recently, I shared the apartment with my partner, who is now relocating for work. I am therefore looking for someone to take over the upstairs room, ideally for at least six months, although the sublet itself would be month-to-month.
That said, I am also very open to shorter-term sublets, so please feel free to reach out with your preferred dates and a little bit about yourself.
The apartment itself spans two floors, with a bedroom and bathroom on each level, as well as an open-plan kitchen/living/dining area. We also have access to a shared roof deck, which is wonderful in the summer and fall months [see photos]. Each room also comes with a built in AC/heater unit, so can be kept very cool during the summer, or warm in the winter.
We have additionally set up the dining area as a shared office/workspace [see photos], making the apartment especially well suited to anyone working remotely. During the academic semester, I teach 3–4 days a week, so I generally only work from home 1–2 days weekly.
The apartment is located in the heart of BedStuy, right next to neighborhood favorites Saranghina and LunÀtico. Other Brooklyn neighborhoods — including Crown Heights, Bushwick, and Park Slope — are all within a ~15 minute bike ride, and the A/C trains are about a 10-minute walk away. There is also a washer and dryer in the building.
Please note that the upstairs bedroom is currently unfurnished.

I have had this apartment for several years and really love it! I am happy for whoever subleases the space to enjoy it, as long as they clean it, take care of it, and leave it as they found it etc.
I am the sole lease holder so you will be subletting from me.
I am asking for $1700 a month + utilities (which generally are ~ $150/month)
To secure the space a $1700 security deposit is needed, as well as a landlord/roommate reference.
