FFLO French Immersion in Brooklyn, Greenpoint is seeking an assistant teacher to start on September 2nd 2024 until end of June 2025 that aims to provide francophone families a high-quality education. We are committed guiding our students in their development; social, emotional, and academic.

Our team is a group of educators who strongly believe in the importance of teamwork. Collaboration and devotion shines bright amongst our team, as we all work together for the betterment of the students' wellbeing.

Fluent French & English REQUIRED. The majority of our parents speak French as their first language, so French is a necessity (oral & written).

*Assisting with Lesson Planning: Collaborating with the lead teacher to develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that promote learning and development.

*Supervising Children: Monitoring children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times

*Assisting with Daily Routines: Helping children with tasks such as eating, toileting, and dressing, as well as guiding them in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the classroom.

*Supporting Learning Activities: Engaging children in educational games, arts and crafts, storytelling, music, and other activities designed to stimulate their cognitive, social, and emotional development.

*Providing Individualized Attention: Offering support and encouragement to children who may need extra assistance or have special needs, ensuring that all children feel included and valued.

*Cultivating a Culture of Care: Demonstrating a genuine commitment to the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of each student, fostering a sense of belonging and security within the classroom community.

*Maintaining Classroom Environment: Assisting in setting up and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning and exploration.

*Collaborating with Colleagues: Working closely with other staff members to coordinate activities, share ideas, and ensure a cohesive and positive learning environment for all children.

*Behavior Guidance and Support: Employing positive behavior guidance techniques to promote a respectful and cooperative classroom atmosphere, intervening as needed to redirect students and address conflicts with sensitivity and empathy

As part of our commitment:

No Classroom Surcharge: We do not surcharge classrooms beyond their designated capacity. This ensures that each student has ample space and resources for effective learning. Each classroom welcomes 10 to 12 students and 2 teachers scheduled full time.

Respect for Teacher Ratio: We maintain a careful balance in our teacher-student ratios to guarantee that every student receives the attention they deserve. This promotes a more interactive and engaging learning experience.

Variety of Roles: There are diverse roles available within the after-school program and private classes (afternoons). Whether you have a passion for arts and crafts, sports, academic enrichment, or mentorship, there's a role for you.

Generous Allocation: Each eligible employee is entitled to a total of 40 hours of sick leave annually, providing ample coverage for unforeseen health-related situations. Those 40 hours of sick days are paid. The sick leave balance resets at the beginning of each calendar year ensuring that employees have access to the full 40 hours annually until June.

1 Day Anytime: Advance notice is required. You have the freedom to use your two personal days at any time throughout the school year. This flexibility allows you to address personal commitments, take a well-deserved break, or attend to any unplanned situations that may arise.

Paid Leave/ holidays: Official days, as outlined in our annual calendar, are recognized as paid leave for all staff members. In support of our ongoing efforts to enhance teaching practices and curriculum quality, we encourage teachers to allocate some time during official days for curriculum planning and development.

Vacation: Eligible employees will have the opportunity to enjoy a total of three weeks of vacation time each year paid. Vacations are as follows : Winter recess (1 week in December) ; Midwinter recess (1 week in February) ; Spring Recess (1 week in April).

Flexibility & Salary: FFLO staff members have the option to have the full afternoon available for other commitments or activities. This position of assistant teacher entails working 32.5 hours per week, providing vital support to our team while allowing for flexibility in your schedule. As part of this offer, the annual salary for this part-time position ranges from $26,000 - $29,900, depending on experience and qualifications. This demonstrates our commitment to fair compensation. With a structured workday totaling 32.5 hours, you will have the full afternoon available for other commitments, whether personal or professional.

Contract : Prior to your first day of employment, we will be providing you with a formal employment contract outlining the terms and conditions of your role. This contract will detail important information such as your job title, responsibilities, compensation package, benefits, and any other relevant policies or agreements. Our aim is to ensure transparency and clarity from the outset, allowing you to start your new role with confidence and peace of mind. This offer represents a 10-month commitment from September to June. During this period, we anticipate your valuable contributions to our team's success
