TL;DR
BR in a fully furnished 2BR (with in-unit W/D and dishwasher) in Cobble Hill is available beginning January 2 for $1,850 per month, plus utilities. There is a cat.

THE ROOM
The room has high ceilings, lots of natural light, and a closet, plus ample overhead storage space. At the moment there is a full-sized bed and nearly-new Casper mattress in the room–ideal if you'll use the room as a pied-à-terre or simply want a new bed!

THE APARTMENT
The apartment is fully furnished and on the top (3rd) floor. It has wonderfully high ceilings, beautiful wood floors, an in-unit washer & dryer, and a dishwasher.

THE BUILDING
The building is a quiet 4-unit brownstone, with the couple who own the building living next door. They are lovely and very attentive. The people in the building’s 3 other units are friendly and work in film, theater, healthcare, law, and probably 1-2 other industries that I can’t think of. We look out for one another’s packages, comment on the delicious aromas coming from an apartment when someone is cooking, foist unwanted fruit baskets on each other, keep noise to a minimum, etc.

YOU
I am seeking a conscientious, tidy, relatively quiet and feline-friendly person (my little black cat, Clay, also lives here) to rent the 2nd bedroom in the apartment. My apartment is fully furnished, so I would welcome a roommate who travels light.

ME
I am a 36F teacher who enjoys fly fishing and clean countertops, listens to NPR, and started a neighborhood walking club. I love dancing and the outdoors and was once in a roller skating ballet. My sun, moon, and rising signs are the same as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s, and Bonnie Raitt over-indexed on my Spotify Wrapped last year. I have lived in my beautiful Cobble Hill 2BR for 5 years–it’s incredible! Maintaining a space that is a tranquil refuge from the chaos of the city is really important to me. Being communicative and friendly with one another would also be.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Cobble Hill is a charming neighborhood with tree-lined streets, funky boutiques, and an overall energy that is warmly communal. It is quiet, but not sleepy. The neighborhood’s 40 blocks sit south of Brooklyn Heights, west of Boerum Hill, and north of Carroll Gardens. You can hear live music wafting from the bars and restaurants on Smith Street, volunteer at a community garden on Hoyt, check out books from one of the two public libraries nearby, or, on Halloween, parade through the streets with accompaniment from the incomparable Brass Queens.

Transportation options are abundant, with 2, 3, 4, 5, A, C, F, G, N, Q, and R trains within walking distance. The NYC Ferry is nearby, too. If you have a car, parking is not impossible to come by.

I can almost always find what I’m looking for here, whether it’s groceries (there are at least 3 butchers, 2 fish mongers, and 2 weekly green markets, in addition to Trader Joe’s, Key Foods, Union Market, Sahadi’s, Dumbo Market, and a natural foods store), a dinner reservation (just off the top of my head, I can think of upscale and fast casual restaurants nearby that serve American, French, Thai, German, Japanese, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Palestinian, Mexican, Vietnamese, Indian, Italian, Vegan, Lebanese, and Greek cuisines), a coffee and a croissant (the number of bakeries per capita is excessive), green space (see Cobble Hill Park, Carroll Park, or Brooklyn Bridge Park’s 85 acres of meadows, wetlands, and woodlands), entertainment (Cobble Hill Cinemas, Public Records, the Brooklyn Historical Society, Littlefield, the Transit Museum, Jalopy Tavern and BAM are all walkable), craft supplies (hello Michael’s, Woolyn, and the Brooklyn General Store), or fitness offerings (in addition to a YMCA, there is a Blink and an Equinox, plus several Pilates and yoga studios, and martial arts dojos galore; Brooklyn Bridge Park is also home to courts and fields for beach volleyball, pickleball, basketball, soccer, and tennis). I could honestly add more to each category and several more categories!
