2 bedrooms available in a very charming, three-story Victorian house share. Utilities are all included in the rent price, so you don’t need to worry about splitting bills. One cozy room with fresh paint, antique hardwood floors, two north-facing windows, and small closet for $975. The other room is $1025 and slightly bigger, with 3 windows facing east, lots of warm light, and no closet in the room, but it has a designated, good sized closet in the hall.
There are 7 bedrooms in the house, one of which is reserved for guests, so you will have 5 housemates. The house has original details, 3 bathrooms including a new remodel with soaking tub, luminous common spaces, a small shared office, upright grand piano, and laundry room. Outside, there's a wrap-around porch and a patio with fire pit, and an extra big, green yard with a small trampoline, raised vegetable beds, magnolia, dogwood and apple trees, grape vines, and lots of flowers.
In historic, walkable Peekskill, ideally situated between city and country. 10-15 minute walk from the scenic Metro-North station and Hudson Riverfront Park, 6 minute walk to the town center with its cafes, bakeries, bars, restaurants, yoga studio and farmer's market. Just across the street is Depew Park with a beautiful pond, track, pool and all of the extensive trails of Blue Mountain Reservation. Peekskill is surrounded by incredible hiking, scenery and culture, all within an hour of midtown Manhattan.

I'm a designer with an interest in intentional community. I bought this home in 2018 and fixed it up myself with the vision of creating affordable, peaceful artist housing within reach of the city. Most of the furnishings are mine, and I watch over the house from afar with the help of those who live there. I come and stay in the guest room every now and then to do maintenance. Current housemates are female and male, in their 20s and 30s. Some work from home, some like to hang out in the evenings, but it is generally pretty quiet. Everyone is expected to participate equally in meetings and chores and everything it takes to maintain a happy home.

All utilities and Wifi, laundry, house furnishings and amenities included. Proof of income, references, security deposit equal to one month of rent due in advance, plus rent to move in. We require a minimum 6 month lease commitment in order to maintain stability in the home.

This is not just a room rental, it is a community, so please be absolutely sure that you are interested in both the work and rewards involved in maintaining harmony in a home shared with 5 people.
