Enhance your English language with a professional tutor who has been teaching English as a foreign language for ten years. Mike enjoys working with people across different industries and professions, but has a specific focus teaching students who work in film, television, and theatre working on accent and pronunciation as well as assisting students working in visual arts enhance their knowledge of industry terms and feel equipped to read articles and discuss movements and concepts about art in English.

While specializing in the arts, Mike has experience teaching students from a wide array of backgrounds, including a significant number of business professionals, and he can cater lessons to your needs and interests.

Lessons are highly individualized to your goals, blending grammar, conversation, and practice in reading, writing, and listening to suit your aspirations.

The hourly rate is based on individual lessons that assume the student is able to meet for lessons in Bed-Stuy, Crown Heights, Prospect Heights, or Clinton Hill or would like to conduct classes remotely. Traveling to your specific location in NYC outside of these areas at an additional cost can be discussed on an individual basis if desired.

While I currently do not offer group classes, I am open to discussing providing a group class and rate if you already have a group of learners who would like to learn collectively.

Hello, my name is Mike, and I'm from New York City. I have been teaching English in professional and volunteer capacities, both full and part-time, for ten years.

Lessons with me are student-centered, meaning they're personalized to your interests and goals. During our first lesson, we will discuss your goals, and I will conduct an informal assessment to determine your level. I can create lessons around vocabulary for your specific industry, improve your grammar and usage, aid in work for a larger class, prepare you for tests such as IELTS and TOEFL, or whatever else you might need to use English for!

I have lived and worked in Chicago, Mexico City, Beirut, and New York. I am also a huge reader of fiction and nonfiction, love learning languages (I speak Spanish, some French, a bit of Portuguese and Arabic as well.), am enthralled by art, am interested in foreign policy, and am totally obsessed with traveling.
