OVERVIEW
Do you like hanging out with school aged children as much as you also like cooking, organizing, and helping with upkeep? Would you one day love to transition to a household manager or personal assistant role, but for now, also enjoy taking kids to after-school activities and watching them grow?
A family on the Upper West Side has two kids, 4 and 6 years old. Mom works part-time from home and could really use some extra help! The kids are in school all day from 9 AM to 3 PM, so this is a hybrid role - early afternoons are helping the family with household tasks and late afternoons and evenings are dedicated to the children.
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Responsible and Reliable! Those are the two words the describe what the family is looking for the most.
This family is super organized - Mom and Dad self-identify as Type A. Therefore, rather than looking for a candidate who can organize their whole lives (they're already organized!), they're looking for a candidate who can follow the systems they have in place and complement them.
If you love to cook, they'd really like to meet you. They'd love a candidate who can whip up batch meals or big rounds of healthy muffins to keep everyone fed.
Even better if you can bring in recipes to try once you get to know them.
SCHEDULE
TBD, but after school hours Monday through Friday, with three longer days devoted to household tasks.
ABOUT THE CHILDREN:
They are a 4 year old girl and a 6 year old boy. Super fun kids, in school all day!
RESPONSIBILITIES
For household tasks, Mom is looking for help when it comes to cooking and laundry, in addition to other tasks that will arise. This is a great position for somebody who doesn't mind going to get the dry cleaning while dinner cools and who feels comfortable making suggestions and taking initiative! The ability to work independently is also important. There will be monthly tasks like cleaning out the kids' closets and Mom would love for somebody to track this for themselves.
When the kids come home, you'll switch to engagement with them: Playing with them, reading with them, sitting on the floor and really being with them.
