About this Service

INFANT & YOUNG CHILD CARE
I am offering care for your infants and other little ones, with you either in-the-home or out of the house! I can take your littles on walks or field trips, or we can stay in your home. I am looking for families to care regularly for, but I'm also open to less consistent, babysitting-type jobs. I can travel to any borough in NYC, and my schedule is flexible!

POSTPARTUM DOULA:
I am also offering postpartum doula care sessions for new parents and families--generally within the first 3 months of an infant's birth or adoption, but it can extend longer than that if needed! The spectrum of care I can offer as a postpartum doula includes infant nannying, research & resource sharing, basic lactation support, meal prep, light housework, errand-running, & emotional & logistical support. If you're expecting a child, or are looking for support for a baby recently born, I'd love to talk to you and see if we are a good fit! I can travel to any borough in NYC, and my schedule is flexible.

About this Lister

My name is Griffy (they/them)! I'm a sweet, energetic, experienced infant caregiver and postpartum doula-in-training. I am also in graduate school at City College for fiction writing. I adore connecting with grown-ups who are seeking to build networks of community for their children (and all humans) to grow up with. I bring my personal politics of abolition and liberation to my interactions with children and adults alike. I root my care work in antiracism, anticapitalism, and queer/trans positivity.

I offer sliding-scale prices (as low as possible--although I wish I could survive while doing the work for free!) because I believe accessible, affirming childcare is a human right.

Background and Expertise

I have been caring for babies and children since I was twelve, and I feel especially drawn to caring for and bearing witness to infants through their earliest developmental stages. (I also know this is often the time when infants' beloved adults could use the most help!) I have experience caring solo for infants as young as 2 weeks old. I am certified in CPR & First Aid for infants, children, and adults. I am in training as a postpartum doula through DONA International, and I hope to be fully certified by 2025. I have worked as a postpartum doula for multiple families in Minneapolis, who I can connect you to as references for me. I've also worked as a special education teacher in a public school and a caregiver for disabled adults, and I co-founded a radical childcare cooperative in Minneapolis (papermoonchildcare.wordpress.com).
