The Room

This dreamy, sun-drenched fourth floor bedroom features 2 large windows overlooking the Botanic Garden. Tastefully furnished with a queen bed, dresser, and large desk, it's sunny, spacious, and full of plants. Price includes all utilities and high-speed internet.

We begin with a 2-month trial period. If it's a good fit, this room is available long-term—many of our past roommates have stayed for several years.

The Apartment

A huge, fully-furnished 3-bedroom, 1-bath prewar apartment with 9-foot ceilings and large windows in every room. Folks visiting are always surprised by the scale of the place and the sense of tranquility that prevails here. Each room is massive and there is ample private and common space to spread out. The kitchen is fully stocked with every imaginable gadget (we're avid cooks). The apartment is home to dozens of plants which we all pitch in to keep thriving. In all, it’s a dreamy place to live and we take exquisite care to keep it inviting.

While there is no dishwasher or washer/dryer in the apartment, there are several laundromats within a block or two of home.

We are warm, mature people looking for a roommate who will appreciate and add to the beauty and serenity of our home. Ideally, you appreciate the little rituals: morning coffee, farmers market runs, a Sunday at the Botanic Garden, and the occasional spontaneous night out in the neighborhood. We're a plant-based home (no meat cooked in the kitchen).

A respectful, friendly, and harmonious atmosphere is fundamental to us. This home a quiet oasis, not a place for loud music, smoking, or ruckus. We value transparent communication and get along best with someone sociable and friendly who also enjoys their solo time. We are hoping for more than just a roommate.

The Neighborhood

The apartment’s location is a dream - Crown Heights at its best. Prospect Park is 10 minutes walk south, the Botanic Garden is literally across the street, and the Brooklyn Museum is a five-minute walk north. Franklin and Washington Avenues are bustling with restaurants. There’s a CitiBike lot on our corner, subway trains (2,3,4,5,Q,D,S) surround us, and the Grand Army Plaza farmers market is a 10-minute walk. Nature and culture are within minutes of stepping outside.

Your Roommates

You will share this entire apartment with one woman in her mid-30s who works full-time, often from the office but sometimes from home. She cooks a lot and enjoys a chat in the kitchen while cooking. Weeknights are generally quiet, while weekends are more social—not bringing the party home, but the apartment is sometimes a lovely place for the occasional dinner party.

The leaseholder is a woman in her 40s who lives primarily in the Hudson Valley and stays in the third bedroom about one weekend a month.

Our Ideal Roommate

- Woman in her 30s–40s who works full-time, values her independence and seeks to forge meaningful connection at home
- Emotionally grounded and self-aware with strong communication skills
- Neat and tidy with an eye for beauty and attention to detail
- Equitable and dependable with household chores
- Willing to split the cost of a regular cleaner
- A roommate whose guests are occasional rather than constant (we are not set up for partners who are here on a regular basis)
