Overview:
A supportive family is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and experienced individual to provide community-based support for a neurodivergent man living in Queens. This is a flexible position, with scheduling and availability to be discussed directly with the individual and family.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about empowering neurodivergent individuals through social engagement, community exploration, and personal growth. The support staff will serve as a positive presence and guide during social events and outings, helping the individual feel safe, confident, and connected.
Responsibilities:
Accompany and supervise the individual on community outings and social events
Provide real-time support, encouragement, and redirection to foster social interaction and engagement
Promote the individual’s physical and emotional well-being in public settings
Support development of independence, confidence, and comfort in new environments
Communicate relevant observations and updates to the care team as needed
Qualifications:
Experience working with neurodivergent adults
Background in education, social work, psychology, mental health, or related fields preferred
Flexible and responsive to changing needs and schedules
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Comfortable providing support in various community settings (e.g., parks, stores, events)
Schedule:
Part-time
Flexible hours
Primarily afternoons, evenings, and weekends, based on the individual’s activity schedule
$30.00 per hour
