Available May 1 for one year-sublet with possibility to renew. Please read the entire listing before replying.
I’m subletting my sunny, large, quiet, furnished bedroom with library nook + exposed brick in a spacious 3-bedroom, 1.5 bath, two-story (duplex) apartment with 11-foot ceilings. The bedroom is furnished (more details below under "The Available Room"). Kitchen and shared living area are also fully furnished.
Each bedroom in the apartment has privacy and no shared walls, as the bedrooms are distanced from one another (opposite ends and/or separate floors of the apartment). The available room is at the back of the apartment (no street noise) and the building is generally quiet.
Please note that we keep the apartment *VERY, VERY* clean and are looking for someone who has equally high standards of cleanliness. We keep a respectful, quiet vibe in the house and are looking for someone who doesn't bring the party home. Do not respond if you are not compatible with this. :)
Note: Looking for 1 roommate only. No pets, as one housemate is uncomfortable with them.
*THE LOCATION*
The apartment is near the intersection of Bushwick and Hart, two blocks from the Central Ave M, a seven-minute walk to the Myrtle-Broadway JMZ, and about 15 minutes from the Morgan or Dekalb L. Lots of friendly restuarants/bars, a growing food community in the area, and a couple great used bookstores.
*THE APARTMENT*
We’re in a spacious, 3-bed duplex on the first floor + the basement. We have a uniquely large amount of space. Importantly, our rooms aren’t on top of each other—no shared bedroom walls! This gives us each private space.
On the main floor is a sizable shared living/dining area, a well-stocked kitchen, two bedrooms at opposite ends of the apartment, and a full bath. Third bedroom is in the basement with a half bath. Lots of exposed brick throughout. The first floor is mainly left to you and the one roommate who also has a bedroom on the main floor, at the front.
The landlord/management company is responsive and we have friendly neighbors, all of whom have been in the building for years or decades.
*THE AVAILABLE BEDROOM*
The available bedroom is on the first floor at the back of the building (very quiet). It has two big windows, laminate wood floors, an exposed brick wall, a full-sized bed, several baskets under the bed for storage, a library nook (lots of books included, plus room for your own), a standing desk (with stool), monitor, armchair + ottoman, and a window AC. There’s still space to do yoga etc. You also have a large closet just outside the bedroom door.
*ACCESSIBILITY*
While we are on the first floor, there is a stoop with several steps to enter the building.
The downstairs roommate and I have been in the apartment since 2016. He is 40 years old and works in creative technology/experiential design, is a classically-trained cook, and puts on interactive culinary events (not in the apartment). He works partly from home, partly outside the home.
The second roommate has been in the apartment for about a year and a half. She is in her mid 30s and is a writer and filmmaker who works partly from home and partly outside the home.
Rent is $1385 per month, plus utilities (electricity, internet) which come to around $50-100 a month, depending on the season. Electricity is higher in the summer bc of ACs. Heat and hot water are included in rent.
*THE LOGISTICS*
If interested, please email details about yourself—age, income, interests, and the type of household you’re hoping for. Inquiries without this information will not be responded to.
We will then set up a time for you to check out the space and meet the roommates (either virtually or in-person). If we all decide it’s a good fit, the landlord will do a credit check and background check.
The subletter and I will sign a basic contract outlining terms, while I remain the leaseholder. Rent will be paid to me (Venmo preferred) and a $1385 refundable deposit to me is required.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need any more information!
