Bright, clean & spacious (2,500 sq. feet), 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom, peaceful country home on 1.5 acres, just outside the village of Kinderhook. The backyard of our house looks out over beautiful forest/marshland, and our bi-level back deck is our favorite tranquil spot on summer nights.

Originally a stand alone home built in 1864, an additional home was added on in the 1950s and connected to the original structure, and later in the 1980s a large kitchen and back deck were added on; our home is a Frankenstein of eras that somehow all meld together in a lovely way :).

The house is 4 levels (including the partially finished attic and unfinished basement). The main floor includes a spacious living room, dining room, open kitchen, cozy den, bathroom and large deck overlooking our peaceful backyard; the second level has 3 bedrooms (and my office, which will not be available) along with a full bathroom, and the 3rd level is our partially finished attic, which has an extra guest bed. The attic is a bright, open space, though can get warm on hotter summer days. We also have an unfinished (though heated) basement with a work space, washer/drier and 1/2 bath.

The house has lots of windows and skylights and plenty of cozy spaces to curl up with a good book, gaze out over the woods or sunbathe on the back deck on warmer days. We also have a fire pit for our backyard and a gas run fire pit for our back deck for cozy outdoor nights. This is our full-time home, so it's furnished with all the things we love: comfy furniture, eclectic art, lots of books, plants, & board games.

We have super fast WiFi and a mesh system that allows strong internet throughout the house, and there are multiple good working spaces on the main level (large tables, comfortable chairs, etc). In addition, the house is furnished with mini-split units throughout the the house, which are energy efficient and can be used for both heating and AC/cooling.

Kinderhook is just 2 1/2 hours outside of NYC, in an area known for it's open farmland, rolling hills and mountain vistas (we're located between the Catskills, Taconics & Berkshires). We live down the road from the empire state trail (an elaborate biking/hiking trail that runs from NYC to Buffalo), and there are tons of beautiful hikes all around us. We're also less than half an hour from the Massachusetts border, where there are so many charming historical villages to visit. We love the beauty, nature and artistic community that this region is known for; a truly special place.

Kinderhook village is a 3 minute drive away, and though tiny, has several wonderful restaurants, cafes, galleries, an amazing bookstore & library and both a yoga and pilates studio as well as beautiful historical New England homes. There are multiple grocery stores 8-15 minutes away and a wonderful farm store with fresh produce and baked goods just 5 minutes away. We're just 15 minutes from Hudson, which has beautiful historic architecture, galleries & shops, and an Amtrak train stop that will get you to the city in 2 hours.

My husband Brent & I are longtime New Yorkers who moved to the Hudson Valley in the last few years to enjoy a slower pace of life with our two sweet pups, Mia & Penny. We both work remotely and love to travel and have friends and family across the country and in other parts of the world. We've had subletting experience both as the people renting out our home to others as well being the one caring for others' homes.
