Hey, Listers! We are a couple in our 50s/60s looking to swap our Manhattan 2-bed for a similar London place in April 2026. My husband is visiting his firm's London office for work, and we're taking the opportunity to extend our visit in one of our favorite cities. We’re bookish, quiet, and very clean, and are happy to take care of your plants or cats.
WHEN: Our current travel dates are 16-26 April, 2026, but we can be flexible anytime between the 10th and the 30th.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR: A London flat that’s well-served by public transit. Good WiFi and decent light are important. Two bedrooms are ideal, but a one-bed that has space for a work-from-home setup or a sofabed would also suit us.
WHAT WE'RE OFFERING: Our apartment is a spacious and bright 2 bedroom/1 bath on the Lower East Side in Manhattan. Queen bed in the primary bedroom, second bedroom is set up as an office with a pullout sleeper sofa. There's a big kitchen and a lovely soaking tub in the bathroom. Furnished with an eclectic mix of art and antiques, plus lots of books & CDs. Wifi but no TV. Moderate street noise (we're a block away from the Williamsburg Bridge). Laundry in the basement. There is an elevator, but the building is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. Closest subway is Delancey-Essex. Bike share is right outside the building, as are several public and private gated parks. The LES, Chinatown, and the East Village are at your doorstep.
About you: You should be tidy, responsible, communicate well, and be willing to water our plants. No smoking/vaping, no pets, and absolutely no parties. Apartment is not suitable for young children.
We're New Yorkers who were mistakenly born elsewhere, moved to NYC as soon as possible, and intend to live here until the end of time.
We have both served long stints on the tenant/homeowners committees in our NYC apartments through the years, so we deeply value being (and hosting) excellent neighbors. We also have history as hosts on TrustedHousesitters and as guests on AirBnB.
