About this Lister

Find The Thread is a woman and mother owned upholstery workroom located in Brooklyn, NY. We specialize in helping you keep beloved, thrifted, or found furniture in your space and out of the landfill. Ruti specializes in bright, colorful textiles, and can help guide you toward the durable, stain resistant, joyful fabrics that your project desires. She loves a good pattern matching challenge, and is thoughtful about fabric layout and design. She loves to collaborate with clients to ensure that each individual project needs are met.

Background and Expertise

A long-time New Yorker and Brooklyn resident, Ruti pursued a few other curvy paths before finding her passion for upholstery. After many years as a Product Manager and Software Developer, Ruti left her career in tech to start her own custom upholstery and sewing business. She has learned from many experts in her field, including in-person workshops, many YouTube videos, and as the Head of Production in another local custom shop, where she worked for three years.

Ruti is a mama of two, an active participant in her community, and a lover of running, hiking and hot yoga. She is happiest when her work is mutually respectful, colorful, sustainable, and FUN.
