I design and install living plant environments for commercial spaces and private residences across NYC, specializing in blank-slate projects that benefit from thoughtful design, long-term planning, and ongoing care.
My work blends plant science with visual design to create spaces that are not only beautiful on day one, but continue to thrive and evolve through the seasons. Whether it’s a street-facing storefront, a client waiting area, an office floor, or a rooftop terrace, I focus on creating environments that feel intentional, healthy, and alive.
Services include custom plant and garden design, full installation (planters, soil systems, plant sourcing, and layout), and optional bi-weekly or monthly care programs with seasonal refreshes.
I run East River Greenworks (Plant With Erik LLC), a Brooklyn-based plant design and maintenance studio serving Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan.
My approach is design-first and long-term. I’m especially drawn to empty or underdeveloped spaces that benefit from a full creative process, from early planning and plant selection to installation and ongoing care. I work closely with business owners, interior designers, and private clients to create plant installations that support both how a space looks and how it’s actually used.
I have a background in plant science and agriculture, paired with years of hands-on experience designing and maintaining gardens, terraces, rooftops, and interior plant installations throughout New York City.
My work is informed by a practical understanding of light, wind exposure, seasonal timing, and long-term plant health, especially in challenging urban environments like rooftops, street-facing storefronts, and high-rise interiors. I’ve collaborated with wellness studios, offices, and residential clients to create installations that are both visually refined and built to last, often continuing into long-term care and seasonal rotation programs.
