Private ground floor storefront art studio (ideal for a painter) in a 3-story brick building (not a high-rise or industrial art stall situation) with original wood floors, tin ceilings, gallery lights, good natural light, window unit air conditioning, 2 big work tables (optional), mini fridge, private half bath plus and separate office space with daybed, comfy chair and fireplace. Located in prime Greenpoint near to cafe’s and restaurants. Roughly 900 square feet. 1 block to G train. 4 blocks to ferry. 1 block from waterfront park. Internet $35/mo. Electrical costs—based on actual use.
Greenpoint has been my home for four decades during which time I have used the storefront variously to sell used records, to paint, as an intermittent pop-up exhibition space, and more recently as an art-build space for political sign making.
The storefront, because of it’s location and vintage charm has an extraordinary $ market value, but so far all the offers have come from restuarants and chain stores.Am hoping to preseve a bit of the old Greenpoint vibe and rent only to artists or non-profits for a less than market rate. .
I recently relocated to the West Coast—my only daughter moved there for college— and I now spend roughly 8 months a year in SF. I hate the word bicoastal but find myself straddling the East and West Coast. Feel free to email me your questions or to see a video of the layout.
