Neighborhood

Upper East Side, New York City

Size

165 sq. ft.

A sunny and spacious room is becoming available in Normandie Court, one of the most well-known luxury buildings on the Upper East Side. The apartment is located right next to the Q train at 96th Street and also close to the 6 train, making commuting extremely convenient while still being in a quiet neighborhood.

The building includes full-service amenities including 24/7 doorman, elevators, laundry, gym, swimming pool, rooftop area, and even a coworking/lounge space on the rooftop. The apartment itself is on the 10th floor, which makes the room surprisingly quiet for NYC while still getting great sunlight throughout the day.

The room comfortably fits a queen bed, desk, couch, and still has space to move around easily. It is 11 ft × 15 ft = 165 square feet. The room also has a nice closet. The common area includes a combined kitchen and small living area. The apartment has 1.5 bathrooms — one full bathroom with shower/bathtub, and a second half bathroom with a toilet and sink.

You would be living with two roommates (28W and 23W), both working professionals who are friendly, social, respectful, and clean. The apartment has a calm and welcoming atmosphere overall. Both roommates have hybrid work schedules, and the building’s coworking rooftop area is also great for working remotely. Friends and small gatherings are totally normal here.

The room can be furnished or unfurnished depending on what the new tenant prefers. I can also leave necessary furniture/items for a very discounted price if helpful.

Utilities are usually reasonable and average around $120/person depending on the season.

The area itself is one of the best parts of the Upper East Side — quiet, and close to everything including grocery stores, cafes, restaurants, Central Park, and multiple subway lines.

I honestly did not want to leave this apartment, but I need to return to my home country because of visa-related circumstances. Otherwise, I would have happily stayed here longer.

About This Lister

I’m a M28 working professional. I came to the U.S. as an international student and completed my Master’s degree at Harvard before working in product marketing for the past couple of years.

The apartment has always been a comfortable and welcoming space for me, and I’ve had a great experience living with my roommates.

I’m unfortunately leaving NYC only because my visa period is ending and I need to return to my home country — otherwise I genuinely would have loved to stay longer.

Rental requirements

Rent for the room is $1,594/month.

Ideal move-in date is June 1, though moving in during the last days of May can also be done depending on timing.

The building management requires a standard approval/application process, including proof of income, W-2/tax documents, and general financial verification. Based on the building requirements, an income around $110k+ is likely needed to qualify comfortably for the lease assumption.

Please note that guarantors may be difficult to use with this specific process, so strong income documentation is preferred.

There is also a $750 one-time application/processing fee required by the building.

We are ideally looking for someone in their mid-to-late 20s who is clean, friendly, respectful, and a good fit for the apartment vibe. We would love to do a quick call to make sure everyone feels comfortable and it’s a good match for both sides.
