A three-story Crown Heights townhouse on a pretty stretch of Bergen Street in the historic district. A traditional Brooklyn stoop leads to the entry door.
The house was built around the turn of the century and still holds a lot of its original character: woodwork, tall doors, shutters - alongside a modernized kitchen and updated bathrooms. It’s lived-in and cared for, with bookshelves on every floor, warm lighting, plants, and a hammock on the top floor. Easy to come back to at the end of the day.
The upper floors have four bedrooms — one king, two queens, and a daybed that opens to a queen, desks in most rooms, plus living and dining rooms, a full family kitchen, and 2.5 baths.
Each bedroom and the living area have its own window A/C unit. Washer/dryer, high-speed WiFi, dishwasher, linens, towels, and all utilities included. We both work remotely and the internet is fast. We keep the house quiet, and dark for a sound night of sleep in a big city.
The backyard is fenced, with outdoor seating and dining, and space inside the gate for bikes or a stroller. The kitchen is fully equipped - everything you’d need to actually cook.
A note on the layout: this is a two-unit home. The garden level is a separate private apartment with its own entrance; laundry and backyard (with raspberries and herbs) are shared with that tenant.
We think of it as a haven to move through the city from, or just stay in. The neighborhood is genuinely residential, which we mean as a good thing. Brower Park and a playground are around the corner. The Brooklyn Children’s Museum Public Library’s Crown Heights branch is one block away. The Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Brooklyn Museum, and Prospect Park are a short distance away, and it’s a great area to run. There’s a large grocery store five blocks. Street parking is available with an alternate-side schedule. Trains: A/C, 2/3, B65, B43, and the LIRR.

We’re a couple working in architecture, design, and technology. We’ve lived in the neighborhood for 15 years and on this block since 2019, long enough to know every creak in the floor.
We’ve shared our home with people over the years - quietly, and it’s always gone well. The people who tend to feel at home here usually have creative professions or backgrounds, appreciate older buildings, and don’t need a lot of hand-holding.
We take our shoes off at the door, don’t have pets, and keep the house the way we’d want to find it. We expect the same, and it’s never been a problem.
We hire a scheduled service for trash, pest control, and housekeeping.
We’re looking for a renter to treat this as their temporary home for one month. Maximum occupancy is six.
To apply:
1. A short video call to get a sense of each other and confirm the details
2. A LinkedIn or comparable profile, plus one reference we can actually reach
3. A signed agreement covering dates, names, ID, household size, and basic house expectations
4. A one week refundable security deposit at confirmation, and 50% of the monthly cost-share at signing — remainder due by arrival
Proof of travel or renter’s insurance is welcome. The deposit is returned within seven days of departure. Any damage beyond normal wear and tear is documented and deducted prior to return.
We’re easy to reach by text throughout and happy to answer questions as you figure out if this is the right fit.
