THE SPACE

My apartment is on the top floor of a historic Tudor-style building, which comes with French doors, a clawfoot bathtub, and windows in every room. The main windows are southern exposure with a view towards Twin Peaks and Sutro Tower. There is easy roof access - just walk out the back kitchen door and up the stairs. From the roof you'll be able the see a panorama of the city and the Golden Gate Bridge.
The main living area has two desk spaces set up for remote working - LG 5k Ultrafine 27" monitors and Gigabit internet. One of the desks can be adjusted to a standing desk.
The kitchen has all stainless steel appliances, including a gas stove. My partner cooks a lot and we have all the equipment you'd need for that. We have an Instapot and an espresso machine, which you may need to look up a manual to use (haha).
We are very clean (vacuum+wipe at least 1x a week) and do not own any pets. We request that you don't wear any shoes while in the space. W/D is in the basement of the building and easy to access.
In terms of decor, I'm an artist and designer so you'll find bespoke pieces that I created scattered throughout our home - paintings as well as handmade ceramics. Feel free to use and enjoy!

NEIGHBORHOOD

We love being located in the heart of the historic Haight-Ashbury neighborhood, near Golden Gate Park, Twin Peaks, Mount Sutro Open Space Preserve, and several other small parks within 10 minutes walking. The Grateful Dead building is down the block. There is a Gus local community market two blocks away and Whole Foods within 10 minutes walking, as well as a bodega on the corner. Both Haight St and Cole St have many food options and vintage shops, which are a few minutes walking away. There is also Divisadero St about a 15 minute walk away, with even more food options and shops. Overall the neighborhood is extremely walkable and usually sunny.

TRANSIT
Easy 20min commute to downtown via the Muni N lightrail, which is a 6 minute walk away on Cole St. The 33 and 6 buses stop on the corner. The 7 bus runs on Haight St, a few blocks away. Because of all this transit, the road can get busy during the day, but then quiets down again in the evenings.

About This Lister

I'm Karen and live with my partner Keenan. We're both originally from the east coast (NJ+Brooklyn for me, and Asheville for Keenan) and have a lot of family and friends there we like to visit a few times a year. We moved out to the Bay Area for work years ago and are now based in San Francisco. It would be great to find someone who is in a similar position, with a need to visit the Bay Area frequently who'd like to do recurring houseswaps with us. We'd prefer another individual/couple who maintains a clean space like us and has a design aesthetic. As a designer and artist who makes ceramics and paints oil paintings, I've curated our space to be comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. Keenan is passionate about cooking so we have a well-stocked kitchen as well. We both love to travel, do outdoor activities together, and play pickleball.

We are experienced houseswappers and looking for a comparable apartment in Brooklyn (Carroll Gardens, Park Slope, Red Hook, Fort Greene, Williamsburg, Downtown Brooklyn, Greenpoint) or Manhattan south of 59th St. We'll be working remotely during the houseswap so a good internet connection is required. Ample natural light preferred. If interested, we'd love to hop on a video call to meet beforehand.
