I’m looking for one roommate to join me in my Bushwick apartment for an August 1 move-in. I’ve lived here for the past three years and have really loved it. My current roommate is moving out because he’s moving in with his girlfriend, so I’m hoping to find someone kind, responsible, and easy to share a home with.
The apartment is a 2 bed / 1 bath in a modern elevator building, just a 2-minute walk from Halsey Street on the J train. You can literally see the train from the windows, but the building is very well insulated, so the apartment stays surprisingly quiet and warm in winter.
The building has laundry and a gym in the basement, rooftop access, a dishwasher in the unit, and heating/AC in each room. The apartment has a spacious open kitchen and living area, and management has been very responsive whenever anything needed fixing.
The available room is a queen-sized bedroom, and rent would be around $1,515/month. The area is also great, with bars, delis, and a comedy club nearby, and the L and A trains are also within walking distance.
A little about me: I’m 28, a public middle school teacher on the Lower East Side, and a Columbia University grad. I love reading, writing, theatre, films, and building a warm life in the city. I also live with my little dog Mia, who is a sweet, quiet, friendly Shih Tzu–Poodle mix. She’s small, well behaved, and doesn’t shed.
I keep a pretty regular weekday schedule, and I’m friendly, respectful, and easygoing to live with. As a Chinese trans woman, I deeply value diversity, inclusion, and compassion, and those are qualities I really appreciate in a shared home too.
A note on photos: a few of the bedroom photos show my bedroom because I don’t want to photograph my current roommate’s private space. The available bedroom has the same size and layout as mine, but without the balcony. My room has the balcony, and I pay a little more to account for that difference.

The room is available for an August 1 move-in. Because this would be a roommate replacement, the building would ideally like to process an application before June 1. This creates a helpful window to secure the room before the apartment goes fully back on the market.
Management is looking for someone with income around 40x the room rent, which would be roughly $65K–$70K/year, and a credit score above 700.
Guarantors are accepted if needed, but they must be a parent, grandparent, or third-party guarantor company. The guarantor would need to make around 80x the full apartment rent, likely around $240K/year depending on the final rent.
Rent would be around $1,515/month. Utilities are not included and would be split between roommates.
Pets allowed, but I’m allergic to cats
