Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, creative, and organized Art Studio Assistant to support the daily operations of a dynamic art studio. The ideal candidate will assist the artist with a variety of tasks, including preparing materials, assisting in production of artworks, maintaining the studio space, assisting with projects, and handling administrative duties. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about the arts and interested in gaining hands-on experience in a professional studio environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Studio Maintenance: Ensure the studio, equipment, and tools remain clean, organized, and fully stocked with necessary supplies.
* Art Material Preparation: Assist with the preparation of art materials such as mixing paints, gessoing panels, and organizing tools.
* Project Assistance: Support the artist during the creation of artworks, as well as assist in digital conceptualization of projects.
* Inventory Management: Keep track of art supplies, materials, and equipment, and order new supplies when necessary.
* Event & Exhibition Support: Help prepare for exhibitions, including packing, shipping, and occasionally, transporting.
* Photography & Documentation: Install, photograph, document, and digitally edit artworks in progress, final pieces, and any relevant studio activities for archives or social media use.
Qualifications:
* A strong interest in the arts, particularly fine arts or studio practices.
* Knowledge of various artistic materials and tools.
* Ability to handle multiple tasks with strong time management and organizational skills.
* Prior experience in a studio or similar environment is a plus.
* Basic proficiency in photography and digital media for documentation purposes.
* Ability to lift and move materials or artworks as needed (may require some heavy lifting).
* Attention to detail and a proactive work ethic.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Good spatial organization skills
Preferred Skills:
* Experience with digital design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator) or photography equipment.
* Familiarity with studio safety procedures.
* Background in art history or fine arts education is a plus.
Working Conditions:
* Involves working with acrylic paint, adhesives.
* Independent working hours.
* Occasional weekend or evening hours may be required during exhibitions or deadlines.

About Us
Monica Delgado Studio is an artist studio in Red Hook, Brooklyn that consists of the artist and 1-2 assistants. Applicants will be in contact with the artist herself as well as her current assistant.
