Just 90 minutes from Manhattan.
The Pearl is a queer nature haven nestled on 6 acres of beautiful, secluded woodland in the Pocono Mountains.
The property borders a 10,000-acre nature preserve, which you can access directly from the backyard. It's truly an amazing opportunity for anyone who loves nature, wildlife, hiking, etc.
The intention for the home is to co-create a vibrant, warm, fun, collaborative community. We are here *because of* each other, not despite.

About the space:
The main floor features a large, open kitchen and dining room with a skylight, floor-to-ceiling windows, and panoramic forest views (+ frequent wildlife sightings!)
The living room features walls of windows, cathedral ceilings, a working fireplace, an antique Wurlitzer organ, and a harp.
The main floor has two bedrooms (The Gold Room and Peach Room) which each have high ceilings with exposed wood.
The downstairs has a cozy log-cabin vibe and features three bedrooms (the Green Room, Black Room, and my room) as well as a cozy film-screening room. An ample entryway/mudroom has plenty of space for all of your comings and goings.
There are 2 full bathrooms – one on each of the two floors.
The exterior of the house has front and back decks that are excellent for lounging, doing yoga, and outdoor dining.
The house is nestled deep in the woods, far from traffic or other houses. It's very private and peaceful.
This is such a rare gem of a place—nourishing, serene, and creatively inspiring.
-Who-
Seeking responsible, trustworthy, excellent communicators who will act as stewards of the home and of the community vibe.
This place is for LQBTQ+ folks who are:
• Socially graceful, cooperative and conscientious.
• Community oriented, yet self-reliant.
• Interested in contributing to a vibrant, warm, and fun community culture.
• Responsible and reliable in taking care of the house.
This is not just a room rental, it is a community, so please be absolutely sure that you are interested in both the work and rewards involved in maintaining harmony in a home shared with other people. This includes monthly house meetings (sometimes business, sometimes fun) and chores. It can be a very rewarding lifestyle for the right person.
Hi! I’m Simi (she/her.) I’m a black queer artist and radical feminist in my late thirties.
I work as a facilitator and consultant. I’ve lived in Brooklyn for 12 years, and I split my time between there and upstate.
I bought this house last fall. I’ve spent the last year pouring my whole heart into renovating it with the vision of creating a whimsical, uplifting, inspiring space to build queer community within the beauty of nature.
And now, I’m very excited to finally share it!
--
My interests include dancing, community building, circlesinging, ecology, womxn’s liberation, collaborative art projects, and designing magical spaces.
I’m a “bubbly introvert”, so although I do my own thing most of the time, I also like to be intentional about spending quality time with community.
As a housemate, I value communication and conscientiousness, keeping our home fairly neat and clean, and maintaining a kind and welcoming environment. Toward that end, I like to have regular (~monthly) check-ins to keep things running smoothly and address any small challenges proactively.
I travel a lot and I have a lot of commitments in the city, so I’m only at the house around 10 days a month.
