The unit is s a rent-stabilized 1 bd/ bath apartment on the 4th floor (no elevator) of the building in Harlem on Manhattan Ave (W 116th) . The unit comes unfurnished with the exception of a TV (that comes with the apartment) and an window AC unit (mine). The bed room is about 9'*10' big and fits a queen size bed or 1 twin bed + desk + a drawer comfortably. The living space is also about 9' * 10' in size in addition to a ca. 6'*5' kitchen space. The kitchen comes with a freezer, and a microwave, and a dish washer which is a big plus for NYC apartments as well as two amble amounts of cabinets. There is a small closet in the bed room and a medium sized utility closet for storage.
The building uses has a doorbell and the street is pretty quiet. There is no laundry in the building or in the units, but several laundry stores exists within 2 blocks. There is a corner store across the street, and a LIDL grocery store 2 blocks away. Transportation wise, the building is 1 block next to the B/C lines (116th), about 3 blocks to 2/3 lines (116th). M3, M7, and M116 bus stops are right around the corner. Together these options easily connect you to other destinations in Manhattan.
The neighborhood is very quiet as Manhattan is a half avenue with very little traffic. Both the central park and the Morningside park are within walking distance. Farmer's market comes every Saturday morning at Morningside Park (110th/Manhattan). Columbia campus is about 10 minutes walk. There are amazing cafes next door.
The unit comes unfurnished but if you can decide before Nov 19th, we can negotiate with any furniture you might want to have. The rent is $2400 (the full rent is technically $2425) and includes trash and water only. Electricity and Gas is through. And Internet is through spectrum. The place is available for 7 months from Dec 1st to June 31st. Thus it is great for Columbia students or other young professionals looking for a temporary space for 1 semester/co-op/internship. I prefer to sublease this apartment to cover most of the listed dates and we can negotiate the rent the longer you plan to sublease.
I am the tenet of this space. I'm a scientist and will be moving away out of state for new job assignment. I'm leaving on Nov 22nd. If you reach out before then, I can show you my space anytime. Otherwise, I'd have to ask my friends to show you the space or do so virtually.
You can tour the space in person before Nov 21st, otherwise it'd likely be through videos and pictures.
Please provide income documents/offer letters/enrollment document for consideration. Zoom interviews needed to move forward.
