Family seeking creative, energetic and agile Teacher dedicated to supporting learner centered education and furthering inclusion.

Position Function:
Facilitate a wholistic learning program that supports creativity, freedom, inclusion and collaboration for a teen with disabilities.

Position Responsibilities:
• Facilitate maker projects that further inclusion through design (as a social practice)
• Facilitate a variety of social, educational and therapeutic activities at home and in the community
• Structure the day: open the day / set intentions, work through cycles of intention, creation, reflection and sharing, close the day / gratitude circle
• Assist teen in demonstrating learning
• Maintain a vibrant and harmonious atmosphere
• Collaborate with Teachers, Therapists and a Product Designer

Pay rate:
$30 000 to $45 000 per year part-time
with the possibility of becoming full time

Location:
New York City and / or Long Island
in person (this is not a remote position)

Required:
• Understanding of self directed education
• Experience working with individuals with multiple physical and developmental disabilities
• Curious, caring and compassionate personality
• 1 year commitment (minimum)

Preferred:
Background in design, craft or art
