My job has taken me 2 hours outside of NYC where I live part-time. I am therefore renting out the primary bedroom of my sunny and quiet, tastefully furnished two-bedroom apartment in Brooklyn and keep the small bedroom for when I'm in the city, which is usually once a week—typically on weekends—for two to three days. There are weeks when I don't come into the city at all. The apartment features hardwood floors, 10 ft ceilings, and is a 3rd floor walkup in a 4-story limestone building. The apartment is flooded with light throughout with 6 windows facing north and south. The primary bedroom has two large windows overlooking a quiet, tree-lined backyard and features a queen-size bed and a spacious closet with drawers. The fully equipped, modern kitchen with a granite island extends into a large living room and alcove in an open plan with three large windows overlooking a quiet, tree-lined dead-end street with low houses and open plots. The bathroom has a full bathtub. Amenities include washer/dryer, dishwasher, AC, and WiFi. All utilities are included in the rent.
The apartment is located on the border of Clinton Hill and Bed-Stuy, near all things that make Brooklyn great: restaurants, coffee shops, artisanal stores, farmers markets, parks, the Brooklyn Museum, and BAM.
Close to subways (10 min to C on Franklin or Clinton-Washington, and 5 min to G on Classon), 20 minutes to the LIRR Nostrand stop, and near 2 Citibike stations.
I am an art curator in my early 60s, a long-time New Yorker originally from Switzerland, and work in a museum that is 2 hours outside of NYC where I live part-time. I am a quiet, clean, and friendly person (she/her). I love all things art, and I spend a lot of time in museums and galleries or with friends when I'm in the city. I do most of my socializing outside the apartment. I would prefer a long-term situation (1 year or longer if it works out) and am looking for a responsible and mature professional who values a peaceful home and with whom I might have an occasional chat and a cup of tea or glass of wine when we're both in the apartment. I like creating a warm, harmonious atmosphere and I like to interact with the person I am sharing the place with while being respectful of their space and privacy. I keep the home clean and fairly tidy and I’m looking for someone who naturally contributes to maintaining that balance (no strict cleaning schedule, just shared responsibility). This could be ideal for someone who spends weekends outside the city, but it's not a must. I have been sharing my place this way for the past ten years, ever since I took the job, and have always had wonderful renters, most of whom I met through the Listings Project. The last renter has been here for a year and a half, and the previous one for three years.
If this sounds like a good fit, send a message telling me a little about yourself and what you’re looking for in a home.
