This 200-year-old schoolhouse was transformed into a home in the early 1980s, featuring an open floor plan centered around a wood-burning stove. The bedroom is located at the back, where the green floors are, and sounds of the rushing Konkapot River fill the room. The river is just a short walk down the hill leading to the swimming hole. The kitchen is rustic yet practical, equipped with a Jenn-Air stovetop and a toaster oven capable of handling any task. There's a yard and a surrounding forest landscape. Great Barrington is a 10-minute drive, and the road stop café and general store is a 5-minute walk. Major attractions like Tanglewood, Mass MoCA, and several esteemed art institutions are easily accessible. This place is ideal for those who do things—whether it's reading, writing, creating, or simply enjoying a location with its own unique character.
We're two creatives who split our time between New York City and the Berkshires. We found this place because we were looking for somewhere to bike, cook, be outside, and slow down and it's been that for us. We hope it is for you too.
