OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
We are looking for a part time sales professional to join the team. As a Sales Associate you are responsible for creating a welcoming shopping experience that will make customers feel comfortable and valued, providing expert knowledge on the artists and their work as well as maintaining open communication with artists and management. Genuine enthusiasm, eagerness to learn, and professionalism are valued. Interest in social media and visual merchandising is encouraged. This is a creative position that supports self-starters with opportunities to engage in our weekly Substack, social media content, and special events including NYC Jewelry Week.

As this is a growing business, the role and responsibilities may evolve over time. We welcome constructive feedback, initiative action, leadership and decision making. We are here to encourage one another.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Experience
-Engage customers in conversation to understand their needs and desires.
-Provide information on Brooklyn Metal Works and the community of artists featured in the store.
-Present merchandise and share detailed information regarding their features and the artist.
-Act as a stylist, offering advice and recommendations.
-Suggest additional merchandise to compliment customer selection.
-Reinforce customer’s selection and package merchandise with care.
-Facilitate the checkout process through Shopify POS.
-Ensure the customer has a full understanding of the exchange policy.
-Follow-up with customer requests and inquiries in a timely manner.
-Answer phone calls in a professional manner.

Administrative and Communication
-Accurate tracking and maintenance of inventory.
-Continual update of sales and inventory for each artist.
-Address restock requests as needed with each artist.
-Share insight in customer behavior, feedback and trends.
-Receive and record new inventory from artists.
-Upkeep Shopify with accurate information, updating inventory, entering in new product with correct photographs, product descriptions and pricing information.

Visual Merchandising
-Incorporate new pieces out onto the sales floor.
-Periodically partake in a visual refresher.
-Aid in the planning and implementation of window display.

Maintain
-Store visuals, presentation, organization, storing and replenishment of stock.
-Good housekeeping standards.
-Stock of customer use and internal use supplies.
-Plant happiness. We have numerous plants in store that require daily attention and weekly watering.

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Strong customer service, sales and retail experience.
-Previous retail experience is required.
-Previous jewelry sales experience is preferred.
-Knowledge of diamonds and gemstones and custom design is a plus.
-Ability to identify each customer’s unique needs.
-Foresight in inventory replenishment needs.
-Experience with building and maintaining strong relationships with customers.
-Excellent oral and written communication skills.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-Strong sense of initiative, self-motivated and goal-oriented.
-Passion for creative thinking, jewelry, and hand crafted objects.
-Able to work 3-4 days a week, including one weekend day.

This position is for a minimum of 3 days a week, with 4 days preferred. Ability to work evenings and one weekend day is required.

Specific Gravity hours of operation are Tuesday - Sunday 11am - 7pm. We are closed on all holiday Mondays, July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day, as well as for Winter Break which is the first week of January. Our December schedule will extend our operating days and hours.
