This is my home! It is a multi-family building broken into two units. The larger apartment is downstairs, where my lovely parents and sister reside.

Upstairs (one flight) is the space for rent. This is where my brother and I reside. My side of the apartment is separated by a private door that locks, and has two bedrooms (or a bedroom + office), a private full bath, and enough closet space for 2-3+ people. That is the space that is available. My brother is a production designer and director who often is out of town on work, or at his partner's home, so you would have the entire unit more often than not. The space that will be shared with my brother--who is 33 and a funny, caring, responsible adult--is the kitchen and living room. Both fully furnished and in great shape--but we are open to moving things around to fit your needs!

Couples are welcome, pets are welcome. There is a cat that lives upstairs, and a dog that lives downstairs. My parents are very kind and loving, and could make fast friends or leave you alone entirely - kinda up to you.

The apartment is easily accessed by the 2,5,B, and Q trains, making commuting easy from the home. There's also a ton of new bars, coffee shops, and restaurants that have opened within walking distance. The area is safe, and the specific block my family lives on is quite lovely. My mom cares deeply about our front garden, and is working on a backyard garden that suits her.

I am looking for one person, or a couple, who (ideally) is looking for a place they want to call home (for at least a year, though I suppose I would be open to 6+ months at a higher price-point). I want someone who understands this is a family home and, though by no means should there be any pressure to become family friends, this will only work if you are someone who can treat my family with decency and respect. This doesn't mean you need to be scared of playing music, or having friends over, or worried they are Trump voters, bigoted religious zealots, etc. This is a no racists, no homophobes, no all lives matter people are welcome household. So, ideally you are someone kind and all of this adds up to you . Tis is an old house and the sound travels down--so loud noise/tons of feet walking upstairs past a decent hour is not ideal. I want to make sure whoever takes my space respects these people who are closest to me (and their much needed sleep). That said, my parents are very outgoing - so if you're the type that likes to chat, you may find new friends in them (and my brother and sister).

The space has tons of light, is roomy and airy, and because it is in a real home--it feels like a real home.

I am a 38 year old producer and writer who is neither a neat freak or a slob, though my habits won't be of your concern. I live with my partner in Bed-Stuy, about 15 minutes away from the house.

My brother is very active in keeping the place tidy when he is there. I think having a housekeeper come once a month split between my brother and you would be a nice idea, but not one that is mandatory.
