Hello!
I'm looking for a roommate to join me in a huge two-bed/one-bath apartment on the Crown Heights/Prospect Heights border for December 15 or January 1. You’d be joining the lease, which runs through November 30, 2026. Total rent is $3,800, split 50/50. The bedrooms are small, but there are two living rooms and a home office space!!!
I just signed the lease and am in the process of moving in, so the apartment isn’t fully furnished yet. Ideally, I’m looking for someone excited to help make the place feel like a home!
The Apartment:
The unit is the second floor of a four-story walk-up on a quiet residential street. The owners are two sisters who grew up in the building. Their grandma lives on the first floor and their cousin on the fourth, so it’s very much a “know your neighbors” type of building! Hosting friends and social gatherings is definitely encouraged, but we do need to be mindful of noise.
The kitchen is spacious and sunny, with lots of counter space and storage. It has a dishwasher and a huge brand-new fridge. (Full disclosure: the gas stove in the photos is being replaced with a new electric stove/oven.)
There are two full living rooms: one dining room space directly off the kitchen and a larger room facing the street with tall south-facing windows (great for plants 🌱). There’s also a third bonus space that could be an office, art studio, or whatever we want it to be!
The bathroom is a good size with a shower/tub, strong water pressure, and a mirrored cabinet with storage.
We pay for electricity and Wi-Fi; the landlord covers heat and water.
No smoking please!
The Room:
Your room is about 11' x 7' and can fit a twin, full, or queen bed. What it lacks in square footage, it makes up for in storage: an entire wall of closets with built-in shelving. Ideal for someone who would prefer to spend most of their indoor time in common areas of the apartment. There's a lot of space so I don't think we'll ever feel cramped! (My room is about the same size).
Location:
Park Pl between Classon and Grand.
• 2 min to Park Pl S
• 8 min to the 2/3 at Eastern Pkwy–Brooklyn Museum and the 2/3/4/5 at Franklin Av
• 13 min to the B/Q at 7th Av and the C at Franklin Av
• Around the corner from the B45 and B48 buses.
No laundry in the building, but it’s only a 4-minute walk to the closest laundromat.
🌳 Prospect Park is about a 15-minute walk away, and there are several grocery stores within a few blocks.
If this sounds like a good fit, please get in touch and share some information about yourself---your job, schedule, hobbies, and what you're like as a roommate. Also feel free to ask any questions you may have!
I am a 28-year-old gay urban planner working in affordable housing. I'm usually in office 3-4 days a week and working from home the remaining 1-2.
In my spare time, I enjoy baking (I share!), exploring the city, foraging, learning languages, and reading. I like to keep common spaces clean so the apartment can feel like I nice place to come back to. Hoping to build a cozy home that feels comfortable and relaxing.
I don't frequently host large gatherings, but occasionally will have a few friends over for dinner or a movie night. I would consider myself a very friendly introvert. I've always enjoyed being social with roommates, and it would be great to live with someone who's down for an occasional movie night, but am okay with any level of interaction as long as communication is kept open and respectful.
I'm planning to get a cat in the near future, as it is my destiny, so make sure that's okay with you!
Since you'll be joining the lease, I would put you in touch with our landlords for final approval. They may ask for info like ID, paystubs, and bank statements. They also might run a credit check.
$1900 security deposit and 1st months rent due at signing.
