About this Service

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) providing in-person and online psychotherapy for adults in New York City with a focus on shame, grief, and belonging. I offer a caring and pragmatic approach centered on mindfulness, acceptance, and compassion.

Many artists (and non-artists) face similar challenges of self-doubt, perfectionism, imposter syndrome, financial insecurity, relationship strain, and feeling disconnected from their creative lives. I often support people navigating challenging life transitions, who feel like they don't quite "fit in", are dealing with anxiety or low moods, and are working through traumatic experiences.

The goal isn’t to “fix” yourself or become someone different, but to be able to move through life feeling more grounded and empowered, with greater clarity, authenticity, and intention, even when things are uncertain and challenging.

I take a strengths-based, holistic approach that views you as a complex and unique individual. This allows our work to be flexible and responsive to what is most helpful for you.

It’s normal to feel unsure about starting therapy. You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin.

Contact me to schedule a free 20-minute phone call to see if working together is a good fit.

I can work with out-of-network insurance benefits to help significantly decrease the cost of therapy. I also offer a limited number of sliding-scale fees based on financial need.

About this Lister

As both a licensed therapist and an active visual artist, I understand some of the joys and pitfalls of an artist's life. My background in the arts shapes how I understand growth and healing as something that unfolds over time, often in new and surprising ways.

My practice and training are based in mindfulness, self-compassion, and radical love grounded in Buddhist psychology from a non-religious, therapeutically appropriate perspective. This is a trauma-informed, engaged approach that draws from multiple modalities including psychodynamic, feminist, and cognitive-behavioral therapies.

This provides a practical, holistic, and non-pathologizing framework that develops the ability to separate from unhelpful thought patterns, stay present with difficult emotions, and respond with greater clarity, steadiness, and self-compassion.

Background and Expertise

In addition to graduate degrees in counseling and visual art, I completed a two-year post-grad fellowship with Contemplative Psychology. I’m certified in Contemplative Care from the New York Zen Center, provided care to patients at the Brooklyn Hospital Center, and trained in Buddhist Psychotherapy at Spirit Rock Dharma Institute. I also have a background in the 90s underground music scene of the Pacific Northwest and am a proud cat dad.

I’ve worked with a diverse range of clients across different cultural, racial, and ethnic backgrounds, sexualities, ages, and gender identities. My goal is to create a space that is caring, collaborative, and open to all.
