Sarah Hardesty works with drawing, painting, installation, and sculpture to create rhythmical and poetic spaces. Through her use of line, brush stroke, repetition, and space, Sarah’s work explores ideas of weightlessness, motion, and reconstruction while seeking to connect to the emotional, psychological and physical landscapes that make up our lives.
Currently on view, Sarah’s site-specific installation, Passage, at Artist Circle Fine Art in North Potomac, Maryland. A mixture of sculpture and drawing, the installation is designed for the raw and untouched portion of the 1880’s bank barn that is home to Artists Circle. Passage is composed of materials found in and around the barn in an exploration of restricted movement, deconstruction, and memory of place. The installation is up until July 8th.
Sarah’s work has been included in exhibitions at ISE Cultural Foundation, NY; Davidson Contemporary, NY; Wheaton College; and The Museum of Contemporary Art in Tucson, AZ. She received her MFA in Painting from the University of Arizona in 2005, and her BS in Studio Art from Skidmore College in 1998.
